“2” is the most important number in the professional life of Stephanie Kai-Win Ho.  She has immersed herself in both classical (1) and contemporary (2) repertoire, she pursued degrees in Religion (1) and Piano Performance (2) in her undergraduate work, and she as emerged as a superb half of DUO, an ensemble she co-created with pianist Saar Ahuvia in 2002.

A native of Taipei, Taiwan, Ms. Ho came to the U.S. as an eight year-old, growing up in Portland, Oregon and studying with Darlene Cusick and Karl Ulrich Schnabel.  Her early performance years were marked by numerous recognitions such as consecutive awards in the MTNA Yamaha Competition, the Oregon Symphony Corbett Young Artist Competition, and the Oregon Chamber Music Society Concerto Competition.

In order to fulfill her aspiration for a well-rounded arts education, she enrolled in a double-degree program at Oberlin College where she took intensive courses in religion and philosophy while pursuing piano performance in both solo and chamber settings.  Capturing a major prize in the Arthur Dann Piano Competition and the Dean’s Talent Award, she studied with Robert Shannon and became a dedicated member of the Oberlin Contemporary Ensemble.  Her love and curiosity for new music led to numerous premieres ranging from amateur student compositions to working with renowned new music composers such as Tan Dun and Carter Pann

She received a Masters of Music from Northwestern University in 2000 where she studied with Alan Chow, and a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Institute in 2003, under the direction of Julian Martin.  While at Peabody Institute, she was again actively premiering and performing new music, this time as a member of Camerata.  During her tenure in Baltimore, her award-winning performances resulted in a prize in the Mary Graham Lasley Scholarship Competition and the awarding of a Peabody Career Development Grant.

Ms. Ho has achieved public recognition in a number of concert appearances including numerous summer festivals such as the Orford International Summer Festival, Bowdoin Summer Music Festival and the New Millennium Piano Festival as well as a Recording Arts Residency at the Banff Centre.  Her recital performances have been heard in the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Spain, Canada and many parts of the U.S.
